Veteran Chef Creates Exclusive Airport Burger Benefiting Military Charities

On Veterans Day, HMSHost offers military members complimentary Budweiser BBQ Cheddar Burger

BETHESDA, Md. – In honor of Veterans Day and beyond, global restaurateur HMSHost’s Food Fight for Veterans is showing its gratitude to military veterans with the debut of the exclusive Budweiser BBQ Cheddar Burger at nearly 50 HMSHost-operated airport restaurants across the U.S. just for November, with proceeds benefiting military charities.

On Monday, November 12, HMSHost invites U.S. active-duty military and military veterans with valid identification to enjoy a complimentary Budweiser BBQ Cheddar Burger while they dine-in at nearly 50 participating HMSHost-operated airport restaurants.

Hand-crafted by HMSHost chef Patrick Malone, a military veteran himself, the exclusive burger is solely available for the month of November. Chef Malone developed the burger with Budweiser’s proprietary barbecue sauce and is paired with Budweiser’s new Copper Lager, a collaborative brew with Jim Beam celebrating the 85th anniversary since Prohibition’s repeal.

A portion of the proceeds from the Budweiser BBQ Cheddar Burger and Copper Lager pairing will be donated to local charities that support veterans and their families. The donation will be made by the HMSHost Foundation, as one of its four pillars of giving is to honor veterans and their families.

We will never be able to thank our service men and women enough for their service, but we hope they enjoy this token of appreciation during their travels,” said HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson. “We thank them and salute them for their service and sacrifices.”

As part of the HMSHost Food Fight for Veterans campaign, HMSHost is holding special Honor Our American Heroes events at select U.S. airports. HMSHost invites travelers to pause from their travels and write their messages of gratitude for veterans. A simple message of thanks can uplift others in positive ways and the Honor Our American Heroes events give travelers a unique opportunity to come to share their messages with veterans. The messages will be compiled and shared with United Service Organizations (USO) airport lounges for service members to enjoy.

Not at one of the participating airports? As part of the HMSHost Food Fight for Veterans campaign, travelers can also share their messages of gratitude with service members on social media using #HMSHostFoodFight. These messages will be shared with local USO offices.

HMSHost has an ongoing commitment to military appreciation whether through partnerships with the USO or through our yearly discounts on great food and drinks. HMSHost offers a year-round 15 percent military discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages at HMSHost locations throughout the United States.

The 15 percent discount is valid any day of the week for military members with valid identification at HMSHost-operated airport and travel plaza locations nationwide.
