New Monmouth Service Area Welcomes Motorists on Garden State Parkway
Shake Shack is among the new food and beverage choices at the state-of-the-art service area
WALL, N.J. – Summer is upon us and the new Monmouth Service Area is officially greeting travelers on the Garden State Parkway. The completely rebuilt Monmouth Service Area, at milepost 100, showcases the service areas of the future with the latest amenities, innovative sustainable design, and exciting new food and beverage choices to fuel motorists’ journeys.
“We are excited to be able to offer our motorists a bright, beautiful, thoughtfully designed service area where they can refresh and refuel,” said New Jersey Turnpike Authority Executive Director John M. Keller. “The Monmouth facility is the first of many new and refurbished service areas that will appear along the Parkway and Turnpike over the next five years thanks to the investments being made by our service area partners, HMSHost and Sunoco.”
Shake Shack headlines the exciting new food options travelers can enjoy at the Monmouth Service Area. Road travelers will experience Shake Shack’s critically acclaimed, modern-day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs (no hormones or antibiotics – ever), fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle-cut fries, and more.
In addition to Shake Shack, Monmouth guests can enjoy options from Auntie Anne’s and Starbucks. The Monmouth Service Area also includes Z Market where travelers can quickly pick-up snacks and beverages, freshly prepared salads and sandwiches, as well as retail needs from convenience items to local souvenirs and apparel. A seasonal food truck area will include a rotation of local food favorites based on availability.
“The Monmouth Service Area opening marks a significant milestone for the exciting enhancements that are still to come for travelers along both the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Amy Dunne. “The New Jersey Turnpike Authority continues to be an invaluable partner for HMSHost as we rethink and redefine what a motorway service area should be with innovative amenities and great food choices that bring an elevated experience to road travelers.”
The Monmouth Service Area incorporates a Jersey Shore theme with beach, boardwalk, and nautical design elements throughout. The newly built 15,800 square foot service area accommodates seating for 150 guests inside, with outdoor patio seating available for more than three dozen. Electronic charging outlets are available throughout the seating areas to keep busy road travelers charged and connected.
The rebuild focused on sustainability, with the design incorporating elements intended to reduce resource consumption including LED lighting along with maximized use of natural light, recycled building materials, as well as waterless and high-efficiency restroom fixtures.
Each year, more than 1.5 million travelers visit the Monmouth Service Area. To accommodate the rush of travelers this summer and beyond, there is an expanded parking area with an enhanced commuter lot and a dedicated bus area.
The Monmouth Service Area re-opening is part of a 25 year agreement between global restaurateur HMSHost and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to redevelop service areas along the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike over the coming years. HMSHost employs more than 2,400 associates throughout New Jersey including along the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike. As part of the ongoing HMSHost enhancements, the Thomas Edison Service Area on the New Jersey Turnpike is next to re-open in June.
